‘Tis the season to inspire

One of the things we love to do is take the ordinary and make it extraordinary.

We like to say, “Take life and make it into art.”  We believe the pictures hanging on your walls should be more than just pictures.  It should be as beautiful and amazing as your family.  Many of our athletes love having an artistic print on their wall.  It’s a way to celebrate their sport and make their athletic career memorable.  Click here to find out how we can create art for your walls.

Many people have a wall, room, or a bar area in their home dedicated to their favorite player or team.  Why not add your son or daughter to your sports wall? Surprise your favorite athlete with a photo session that celebrates their sport.

It’s a great way to add inspiration and feature your favorite athletes at the same time.

More than an athlete

Brooke Barton is always on the go!  She not only plays soccer and futsol, she also swims.  In addition to all that, she has two little sisters that she spends a lot of time with.  There’s something else.  When she’s not playing sports or spending time with family, you can find her spending her free time at the Valley Park Firehouse where she is training to become a First Responder.  It’s Brooke’s dream to be a firefighter.

Higher Focus had the privilege of photographing Brooke for her High School Senior Session.  We had so much fun!  Here is a behind the scenes look at our session with Brooke:

Thanks Brooke for allowing us to be your photographer.  A special thank you goes to the Valley Park Firehouse for allowing us to come in with our cameras and photograph Brooke.  We had a blast!  Thanks guys!

What will you wear?

What is your style?  Have you ever really thought about it?  Think about the clothes you wear.  Is there anything special about how you dress or do you just think, “I’m average”?  Your clothes say a lot about you.  Here are 3 tips from our “What to Wear Guide” to help you always look your best and have a killer photography session:

Make sure your clothes fit appropriately.  If your clothes are too tight or too baggy, it looks awkward and can be a distraction.  Tight fitting clothes can show bulges.  Loose fitting clothes can actually make you look heavier.  Wearing the right kind of clothes can make you look fabulous!

Join the Dark Side!  The fall is fast approaching and it’s the perfect time to start wearing darker colors.  Dark clothing is concealing and will make you look thinner.  Avoid wearing clothes with slogans, logos, or other distractions.  Bold stripes and large patterns can stand out and be distracting.  Instead, make it all about you!  Wear colors that go best with your complexion, hair color, and your eyes.  Wearing the right color top can make your eyes “pop” – especially on camera.

Be unique.  Your clothing selections determine your personal style.  Don’t expect to be unique if you are wearing what everyone else is wearing.  Your clothing should be an extension of who YOU are.  Wearing “popular brand” t-shirts just makes you like everyone else and it’s hard to stand out when you are just one of the crowd.  Make sure your personality shines through!

Bonus tip:  Don’t be afraid to cover up.  If there is something about your body you don’t like, cover it up!  I am amazed at how many people will wear something sleeveless and talk about how they hate their upper arms.  If you are uncomfortable with the way you look, it will show on the camera.

Before the day of your photo shoot, try on your clothing selections in front of a mirror.  Make sure you’re happy with how they look and fit.  There is nothing worse than showing up to your photography session and discovering the awesome outfit you chose doesn’t fit, is wrinkled, or has a big stain!  A little planning goes a long way!
