What will you wear?

What is your style?  Have you ever really thought about it?  Think about the clothes you wear.  Is there anything special about how you dress or do you just think, “I’m average”?  Your clothes say a lot about you.  Here are 3 tips from our “What to Wear Guide” to help you always look your best and have a killer photography session:

Make sure your clothes fit appropriately.  If your clothes are too tight or too baggy, it looks awkward and can be a distraction.  Tight fitting clothes can show bulges.  Loose fitting clothes can actually make you look heavier.  Wearing the right kind of clothes can make you look fabulous!

Join the Dark Side!  The fall is fast approaching and it’s the perfect time to start wearing darker colors.  Dark clothing is concealing and will make you look thinner.  Avoid wearing clothes with slogans, logos, or other distractions.  Bold stripes and large patterns can stand out and be distracting.  Instead, make it all about you!  Wear colors that go best with your complexion, hair color, and your eyes.  Wearing the right color top can make your eyes “pop” – especially on camera.

Be unique.  Your clothing selections determine your personal style.  Don’t expect to be unique if you are wearing what everyone else is wearing.  Your clothing should be an extension of who YOU are.  Wearing “popular brand” t-shirts just makes you like everyone else and it’s hard to stand out when you are just one of the crowd.  Make sure your personality shines through!

Bonus tip:  Don’t be afraid to cover up.  If there is something about your body you don’t like, cover it up!  I am amazed at how many people will wear something sleeveless and talk about how they hate their upper arms.  If you are uncomfortable with the way you look, it will show on the camera.

Before the day of your photo shoot, try on your clothing selections in front of a mirror.  Make sure you’re happy with how they look and fit.  There is nothing worse than showing up to your photography session and discovering the awesome outfit you chose doesn’t fit, is wrinkled, or has a big stain!  A little planning goes a long way!
